This thing looks to be at least a kilometer deep, and if you have to circle the whole thing twenty times, that's like... a lot of kilometers of walking to get down there. Your smartypants neighbor would probably be able to do the math. What it means to you is that if you take the stairs it's going to take forever, and going fast is likely to get you catapulted off the side. But if there's anything other than ash and rocks in this place it's going to be down the hole, which makes it worth exploring in your book.
